Ong Seong Wu is reportedly preparing for his return to the small screen following his military discharge. Industry insiders revealed on July 15 that he has been cast as the lead in a new KBS one-act drama episode titled First Love is Like a Wired Earphone (literal translation). The episode is part of the upcoming anthology series Love: Track, which will air in the second half of 2025 and consist of 10 standalone romance stories, each lasting around 30 minutes. This project, if confirmed, would mark Ong’s first television drama since completing his military service in October 2024.

The KBS anthology series follows a long-standing tradition of single-episode dramas previously seen in Drama City and Drama Special. Love: Track aims to explore different shades of romance, ranging from youthful crushes to more mature relationships. Ong’s episode is said to revolve around the theme of first love, which is expected to appeal strongly to younger viewers. While neither his agency nor the production team has formally confirmed the casting, news of his involvement has already generated excitement among fans who have long awaited his return to acting.

Since finishing his military duty, Ong has gradually re-entered the entertainment scene. He lent his voice to the animated film Nico and appeared in a stage production of Shakespeare in Love, demonstrating his versatility as a performer. However, fans have been especially eager to see him return to television dramas, a space where he gained recognition through roles in Moment at Eighteen, Idol Fever, and Strong Girl Nam Soon. His rumored appearance in Love: Track is viewed as an important step in revitalizing his post-military acting career, with many hoping it leads to even bigger projects.

In a separate episode of Love: Track, actor Lee Joon is also expected to star. His episode, One Star’s Love, will focus on a character known for his methodical and logical nature who unexpectedly finds himself swept up in a romantic experience. Like Ong’s storyline, Lee’s episode is part of the 10-part series, each offering a unique and emotionally rich narrative about love.

Although official announcements are still pending, the casting of Ong Seong Wu and Lee Joon has already drawn considerable buzz. The anticipation for Love: Track is steadily building, with audiences looking forward to a modern anthology that delves into the complexities and subtleties of love through a fresh lens.
