Strands is a brand-new daily puzzle from the New York Times that offers a challenging twist on the classic word search. You’ll need a sharp eye to conquer this puzzle.
Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be tricky to solve on some days. There’s no shame in needing a little assistance. If you’re stuck, we have the answers to today’s Strands puzzle below.
How to Play NYT Strands
In Strands, your objective is to find the “theme words” hidden in a grid of letters. You can manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the final letter to confirm your word. If you find a correct theme word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and will no longer be selectable.
Finding words that aren’t theme words can still be helpful. For every three non-theme words you find that are at least four letters long, you will receive a hint: some letters of a theme word will be revealed, and you’ll need to unscramble it.
Every letter on the grid is used to spell out the theme words, with no overlap — each letter is used once. Each puzzle also includes one “spangram,” a special theme word that spans from one side of the board to the other. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The goal is to complete the puzzle quickly without using too many hints.
