Connections is the newest puzzle from The New York Times, designed to get you thinking outside the box. The goal? Sort a pool of 16 words into four secret categories by figuring out what links them together. Just like in Wordle, you can track your winning streak and challenge your friends to see who’s the best at solving the puzzle.
If today’s Connections puzzle is proving a bit tricky, don’t worry! We’ve got hints and tips below to help you out. And if you’re still stuck, we’ll reveal today’s answers at the very end.
How to Play NYT Connections
In Connections, you start with a grid of 16 words. Your mission is to organize these words into four groups of four by identifying what connects them. These connections could be anything — like names of chain restaurants, book sequels, video game titles, or even shades of colors.
However, don’t get too comfortable — some words might seem like they could fit into multiple categories, but only one arrangement is correct. As you move words around, you can shuffle the grid to see the potential connections better.
Each category you solve is color-coded for difficulty:
- Yellow (easiest)
- Green
- Blue
- Purple (trickiest)
Once you think you’ve identified a group, pick four words and hit Submit. If correct, they’ll be removed from the grid, and the link between them will be revealed. If you guess wrong, it counts as a mistake, and you can only make four before the game ends.
