The allegations brought against Portuguese actor Nuno Lopes by filmmaker A.M. Lukas involve accusations of drugging and raping Lukas in 2006. Lukas filed a lawsuit against Lopes in New York just before the expiration of the state’s Adult Survivor’s Act, which allows survivors to report crimes that have surpassed the statute of limitations.

According to Lukas’s lawsuit, the incident occurred after meeting Lopes at a Tribeca Film Festival premiere party in Manhattan. Lukas alleges that they began feeling disoriented and had a fuzzy memory after consuming only a few glasses of white wine. Lukas claims to have vague recollections of Lopes raping them, masturbating over their motionless body, and taking off their clothes while they attempted to put them back on. Lukas further stated that Lopes provided them with money for a taxi and his phone number before parting ways.

The following day, Lukas received a voicemail that sounded like a man masturbating and moaning while calling Lukas’s name. Lukas visited a hospital for a rape kit and allegedly called Lopes to inquire about the use of a condom, to which Lopes confirmed having intercourse without using a condom.

Lukas asserts meeting Lopes for a conversation the day after the incident, where Lopes claimed that Lukas initiated kissing and sex, even after allegedly passing out in Lopes’s bathroom. Lopes denied sending the voicemail but reportedly displayed what Lukas interpreted as a gleeful expression while listening to it.

Nuno Lopes has responded to these allegations by denying all accusations made by Lukas. In an Instagram statement, Lopes stated his moral incapability of committing such acts, emphasizing that he would never drug or take advantage of an incapacitated individual. He maintained a clear conscience and declined to settle the case, expressing solidarity with victims and emphasizing his respect for them.
