Noah Centineo is taking The Recruit’s cancellation in stride. While attending the premiere of his upcoming A24 action film Warfare on March 27, the actor addressed Netflix’s unexpected decision to end the spy thriller after two seasons.
“It is what it is,” Centineo told The Hollywood Reporter, acknowledging that Netflix has its own content strategy. “They have a certain mandate that they need to fill,” he added. Despite the abrupt cancellation, Centineo expressed pride in the work they did and the “strong cult” fan following the show built over its run.
The Recruit followed Owen Hendricks (Centineo), a rookie CIA lawyer caught in an international conspiracy. Reflecting on the experience, Centineo shared that filming the series was incredibly educational, particularly in understanding the behind-the-scenes process of making a show. “And also having such a great cast,” he added.
The series featured an ensemble cast including Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, and Michael Gandolfini.
While fans may be disappointed by The Recruit’s cancellation, Centineo is moving forward with Warfare, a gripping Iraq-set action thriller about a Navy SEAL team on a perilous mission. The film, which explores themes of brotherhood and survival, is set to release on April 18, 2025.
For now, fans can still watch both seasons of The Recruit on Netflix.
