Shaun White and Nina Dobrev have officially ended their relationship, ending what was once one of Hollywood’s most loved sportsperson-actor couples. According to a source close to them, it was a mutual decision made “with love and a deep respect for one another.”
The couple first met in 2012 at an awards show but didn’t reconnect until 2019 at a Tony Robbins event. They quickly grew close, moving in together during the pandemic and supporting each other through various personal and professional milestones. Their romance became public in May 2020 when Dobrev gave White a quarantine haircut, and they later made their red carpet debut at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London in 2022.
The pair got engaged in October 2024, with White proposing at The Golden Swan in New York City. Dobrev shared in early 2025 that they were taking their time planning the wedding to truly enjoy the process. However, in September 2025, Dobrev was spotted at the Toronto International Film Festival without her engagement ring, fueling speculation of a split.
The official separation came on September 11, 2025. Despite their breakup, the couple had shared a five-year journey together filled with love, support, and memorable public moments. Neither has made a public statement regarding the split.
