Nicki Minaj fans have something big to look forward to next month. On Friday, November 8, the rapper announced the release of Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus, a final deluxe edition of her latest album, arriving December 13 to mark the one-year anniversary of Pink Friday 2. While Minaj had previously teased Pink Friday 3, she has pivoted to The Hiatus, which she announced as the “final deluxe installment” closing the Pink Friday 2 era.
In her post on X, Minaj wrote, “Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus The final deluxe installment On the 1 year Anniversary of PF2 12.13.24.” Fans expressed excitement over new music, though some worried that the mention of a “hiatus” might mean Minaj could take a break from music in 2025. One fan wrote, “IS THIS A DELUXE OR A HIATUS IM CONFUSED-,” while another added, “Wait I skipped the hiatus word…. Idk how to feel now.”
Initially, Minaj was set to release Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded in September, aligned with the U.S. leg of her record-breaking Pink Friday 2 World Tour. However, she then revealed plans to work on new music for Pink Friday 3 instead of releasing a deluxe album. “The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album,” she tweeted, mentioning tracks like Mamita and an anxiety song. “Last night, the songs I recorded were just way too iconic.”
Pink Friday 2, released on December 8, 2023, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, earning 228,000 album-equivalent units per Luminate. Minaj also recently completed the North American leg of her world tour in October, setting records as the highest-grossing rap tour by a woman in Boxscore history.
