After weeks of people guessing whether legendary coach Nick Saban might return to football, we finally got the answer straight from him: he’s not coming back, at least not anytime soon.
Saban recently appeared on Fox & Friends and made it clear that the rumours just aren’t true. He joked that the only moment he even thought about coaching again was two days ago, when his wife, Miss Terry, asked him to vacuum the entire downstairs of their home. While doing that chore, he thought to himself, “You know, coaching was a much better job than this.” But even then, he laughed it off and didn’t take it seriously.
Saban said there’s no job offer right now that would tempt him back into coaching. This comes after Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd stirred up speculation that the Cleveland Browns were trying to get Saban and might even promise to draft Arch Manning to make it more appealing. But Saban confirmed what his daughter Kristen had already said: he’s happy in retirement and not interested in returning to the sidelines.
If Saban ever did consider coming back, it would probably have to be a deal where he had total control, like he did at Alabama, possibly as both coach and general manager. But for now, he’s enjoying life away from football, and it doesn’t sound like he’s planning a comeback anytime soon.
