Nicholas Galitzine has officially wrapped filming for the highly anticipated live-action Masters of the Universe movie, marking a major milestone in the project’s journey to the big screen. Sharing the update via Instagram on June 15, Galitzine, who takes on the dual role of Prince Adam and He-Man, expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity, calling it “the role of a lifetime.” While he didn’t reveal much visually—only posting a shadowy silhouette in costume—his emotional note conveyed how much personal and professional investment he brought to the film.
The film, backed by Amazon, MGM Studios, and Mattel Films, is directed by Travis Knight and slated for theatrical release on June 5, 2026. It revisits the origin of Prince Adam, who as a boy is separated from his magical Power Sword after crash-landing on Earth. Years later, as an adult, he finds the sword and returns to Eternia, transforming into He-Man to defend the realm against the forces of evil, led by the sinister Skeletor. Castle Grayskull, a vital setting from the original 1980s animated series, remains at the heart of this high-stakes narrative.
The movie boasts a star-studded cast alongside Galitzine. Camila Mendes plays Teela and also marked her filming wrap with a TikTok post, while Jared Leto brings life to the film’s primary antagonist, Skeletor. Other notable names include Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley as King Randor and Queen Marlena, and Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man. With additional roles filled by the likes of Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Kojo Attah, and Sasheer Zamata, the ensemble brings together a compelling mix of talent.
The screenplay, penned by Chris Butler and based on earlier drafts from David Callaham and the Nee brothers, aims to blend classic lore with a modern cinematic approach. While fans are still waiting for a full trailer or first look, early buzz around Galitzine’s dedication and the ambitious casting suggests that Masters of the Universe could offer a bold and heartfelt reboot of the iconic franchise.
