The latest NFL trade news has set the football world abuzz as the New York Jets have secured star edge rusher Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a conditional 2026 third-round pick, as reported by numerous NFL insiders.
This trade comes with intriguing conditions: If Reddick surpasses the 67.5% snap mark for the Jets this season and racks up 10 or more sacks, the Eagles will elevate their compensation to a second-round pick in the 2026 draft.
The move by the Jets comes as a response to the departure of Bryce Huff, who ironically inked a lucrative three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Eagles in free agency. Notably, the Jets were actively pursuing Jadeveon Clowney as a replacement option, only to see him opt for the Carolina Panthers instead.
Reddick’s impressive track record speaks volumes about his potential impact. Amassing an impressive 27 sacks during his tenure with the Eagles over the past two seasons, including a standout performance with 11 sacks in 2023, Reddick has consistently delivered stellar results. Notably, he’s recorded at least 11 sacks in each of the last four seasons, hitting a career-high of 16 in 2022.
With Reddick now in the fold, the Jets have solidified their defensive arsenal, potentially freeing up their draft strategy. The acquisition clears the runway for the Jets to consider selecting Brock Bowers or another impactful offensive weapon with the 10th overall pick in the upcoming draft. Prior to this trade, the Jets were often linked to prospects like Dallas Turner and Jared Verse in 2024 mock drafts, but with Reddick’s arrival, their priorities may undergo a significant shift.
