The Traitors season 4 continues to escalate, with a new twist giving the Faithful a rare chance to confront those working against them.

The series has already been marked by major tension. A secret Traitor remains hidden. Alliances have fractured. The ongoing conflict between Fiona and Rachel has added further instability to the game.

In Thursday night’s episode on 9 January, the players gathered for their latest mission. What followed was an unexpected shift in the rules.

Host Claudia Winkleman addressed the group before the task began. She told the players the mission would force them to take a hard look at themselves and at one another.

She explained that the group would be split and sent along different routes through the castle woods. Along each path, players would encounter mirrors. Each mirror would pose questions about fellow contestants still in the game. The answers were based on private questionnaires the players had completed the night before.

For every correct answer, £500 would be added to the prize fund. However, the incentive did not end there.

Claudia revealed that the group with the highest number of correct answers would gain access to the castle’s Walled Garden. This reward came with significant power. The winning players would be given the chance to speak directly to the Traitors.

Following a tense mission, Rachel, Roxy, Matthew, Faraaz and Harriet emerged as the winning group. They were escorted to the garden, where the twist took another turn.

Each player was presented with a mirror and told they could choose to smash it. If smoke emerged, they would earn the right to speak to the Traitors. If no smoke appeared, the opportunity would be lost.

Rachel, Harriet and Matthew smashed mirrors that released smoke. They were informed that after the roundtable, they would be allowed into the castle confessional. There, they would be able to ask the Traitors two questions.

Whether those answers will be honest remains uncertain.

The Traitors season 4 continues on Friday 9 January at 8 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Seasons 1 to 3 are available to stream on iPlayer.
