Netflix’s upcoming medical procedural “Pulse” is shaping up to be a must-watch, with an impressive ensemble cast rounding out its main roles. Variety has exclusively learned that Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Chelsea Muirhead, Daniela Nieves, and Jessy Yates are joining the series, set to star alongside previously announced leads Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, and Justina Machado.
“Pulse” follows the intense world of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center, where the medical staff grapple with life-or-death emergencies on a daily basis. The series centers on young ER doctor Danny Simms, played by Fitzgerald, who finds herself unexpectedly promoted to Chief Resident amidst the aftermath of her own complicated romantic entanglements.
Jack Bannon, known for his roles in “Pennyworth” and “The Imitation Game,” steps into the role of Tom Cole, a witty and charming surgical resident drawn to Miami’s vibrant lifestyle. Jessie T. Usher, recognized for his work in “The Boys” and “Shaft,” portrays Sam Elijah, a thoughtful and competitive third-year Emergency Medicine Resident hailing from the Florida panhandle.
Chelsea Muirhead, whose credits include “Warrior” and “Slo Pitch,” takes on the role of Sophie Chan, a determined surgical intern with aspirations of becoming a top-notch surgeon. Daniela Nieves, known for “Vampire Academy” and “Five Points,” embodies Camila Perez, a resilient third-year medical student who maintains an unwavering optimism despite the challenges she faces.
Rounding out the cast is Jessy Yates, familiar from “Law & Order: SVU” and “Speechless,” portraying Harper, a self-assured second-year Emergency Medicine resident who happens to be wheelchair-bound and is also the younger sister of lead character Danny Simms.
Created by Zoe Robyn, “Pulse” is co-showrun by Robyn and Carlton Cuse, with Kate Dennis directing and executive producing the first two episodes. The series promises a gripping exploration of the high-stakes world of emergency medicine, coupled with compelling character-driven storytelling.
