Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters is making waves far beyond the screen. Its hit song Golden has now spent four straight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard confirmed on September 8. This milestone even surpassed BTS’ 2020 track Dynamite, which stayed at the top for three weeks.

The rise of Golden has been steady and impressive. It started at No. 81, slowly climbed through the charts, and finally claimed the top spot multiple times. With this achievement, it joins the elite group of K-pop songs that have held multiple weeks at No. 1, second only to BTS’ Butter, which dominated for ten weeks.

The song isn’t just performing on the Hot 100. It’s also leading the Streaming Songs chart for a seventh week, moved up from No. 29 to No. 24 on Radio Songs, and stayed at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales for a second week. Between August 29 and September 4, Golden earned 34.5 million streams, 22.1 million radio impressions, and 9,000 sales in the U.S. alone.

The voices behind the song, HUNTR/X—a trio made up of EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI—bring the characters Rumi, Mira, and Zoey to life. Their success marks the first time female K-pop lead vocalists topped the Hot 100, and Golden is only the second K-pop song to spend at least four weeks at No. 1.

The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack is breaking records in other ways too. Along with Golden, three other songs from the film are in the Hot 100 Top 10: Your Idol at No. 4, Soda Pop at No. 5, and How It’s Done at No. 9. This is the first time in the 67-year history of the Hot 100 that a single soundtrack has placed four songs in the Top 10 simultaneously.

Other artists had big weeks as well. Sabrina Carpenter’s new song Tears debuted at No. 3, while her previous No. 1 hit Manchild climbed to No. 4. Her latest album Man’s Best Friend also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it a strong week for pop music overall.
