The long wait is finally over for Stranger Things fans. Netflix has officially revealed when the fifth and final season of the beloved sci-fi show will arrive, and it’s coming in three parts. This will be the grand ending to the Hawkins story that started back in 2016.
The first part, Volume 1, will premiere worldwide on November 27, 2025, at 6:30 am IST. The next part, Volume 2, will drop on December 26, 2025, right after Christmas. The final chapter, titled The Rightside Up, will be released on January 1, 2026. But before it lands on Netflix, the finale will hit more than 350 theaters across the U.S. and Canada on December 31, 2025, marking the first time a Netflix show has ever ended with both a streaming and a big-screen release.
This move is a big deal for Netflix. It shows how much they want to give fans a true cinematic experience as the story closes. According to reports, the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, have dreamed of a theater release for years. They wanted fans to watch the ending together, surrounded by others who’ve followed the series from the start. Matt Duffer said that people often miss out on the detailed sound and visuals when watching at home, and bringing it to theaters lets them feel the full power of what Stranger Things has always aimed to be, a thrilling, emotional, movie-like experience.
As for the story, Season 5 will pick up in 1987. Hawkins is now under military lockdown after the chaos caused by the Rifts, and Vecna’s dark shadow still threatens everything. Eleven, Hopper, Joyce, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, and Max will come together for one final battle to save their world.
All the familiar faces, Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, and Sadie Sink, are returning. There will also be some new characters, though Netflix is keeping details quiet for now.
Fans won’t have to wait too long for a first look. The official trailer for Season 5 is expected between October 27 and October 29, 2025, right after Netflix hosts a global rewatch of Season 4. Leading up to the release, there will be new posters and sneak peeks to build the excitement for what promises to be one unforgettable finale.
