The animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft has officially been renewed for a second season at Netflix, just two weeks after its premiere on October 10. The first season featured eight episodes and received mostly positive reviews, currently holding a 73% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The official logline for Season 2 reveals an exciting new adventure for Lara Croft, voiced by Hayley Atwell. This time, Lara teams up with her best friend Sam (voiced by Karen Fukuhara) to track down a series of stolen African Orisha masks. Their quest takes them around the globe as they uncover hidden secrets of Orisha history, while navigating the threats posed by a dangerous billionaire intent on claiming the masks for herself. The relics they seek are rumored to contain dark secrets and a power that may even be divine.
The voices of Atwell, Fukuhara, Allen Maldonado, Earl Baylon, Richard Armitage, Zoe Boyle, Roxana Ortega, and Nolan North are also featured.
The Tomb Raider franchise began with the original video game released in 1996, which sold over 2.5 million units by 1997. As of 2024, a total of 20 Tomb Raider games have been released, and the franchise has also seen adaptations into films starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.
