Myles Garrett delivered one of the most dominant defensive seasons in NFL history in 2025.
On Saturday, Garrett was named to the AP First Team All Pro for the fifth time in his career. The honor further cements his place among the league’s elite defenders and strengthens his Hall of Fame résumé.
Garrett’s 2025 campaign was defined by both production and consistency. The Cleveland Browns star recorded 23 sacks, setting a new NFL single season record. He broke the mark in Week 18 by sacking longtime rival Joe Burrow in the closing minutes.
His impact went far beyond sacks. Garrett led the league with 33 tackles for loss and 39 quarterback hits. Offensive lines struggled to contain him all season.
Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz repeatedly highlighted Garrett’s influence. Schwartz described him as a game wrecker and compared his movement to that of Spider Man.
At just 30 years old, Garrett’s accomplishments already place him alongside historic pass rushers. His five First Team All Pro selections match totals posted by legends such as Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor at similar stages of their careers.
Garrett also reached another rare milestone. He became the first player since 1982 to record at least 12 sacks in six straight seasons.
Teammates believe he is still ascending. Safety Grant Delpit said Garrett is on track to become the greatest defensive player of all time.
Garrett surpassed the previous single season sack record of 22.5 set by Michael Strahan and later matched by T.J. Watt. He did so with a blend of speed, power, and refined technique that stood out even among elite competition.
With his jersey widely expected to one day hang in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Garrett continues to build a legacy that stretches beyond annual awards.
As the 2025 season closes, Myles Garrett is no longer just one of the best defenders in football. He is making a serious case as the most dominant edge rusher the game has ever seen.
