Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love made a strong impression at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, premiering to a six-minute standing ovation. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, and Mubi has secured U.S. and multiple international rights for a reported $24 million deal, marking the first major sale of Cannes 2025.
The film is an adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s 2017 novel, with Ramsay relocating the story to rural America. It explores the harrowing experience of a new mother—played by Lawrence—who spirals into psychosis triggered by postpartum depression. Pattinson plays her husband, adding depth to this intimate, psychological drama.
Jennifer Lawrence opened up at the Cannes press conference about her own motherhood journey, highlighting the isolating and intense emotional toll of postpartum depression. Her candid remarks added a poignant real-life connection to the film’s themes.
This project marks Ramsay’s return to Cannes since her 2017 acclaimed thriller You Were Never Really Here, which won Best Screenplay and starred Joaquin Phoenix.
Die, My Love is produced by Excellent Cadaver, Black Label Media, and Sikelia Productions, and is now set to reach audiences across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, Australia, India, and more.
