At the recent 2024 Hyundai Card Da Vinci Motel event in Itaewon, Min Hee Jin took the stage for a captivating 100-minute session titled *The Producer Who Breaks the Formula of K-Pop: Min Hee Jin’s Freestyle*. She thrilled the audience by sharing a sneak peek of an unreleased demo track from NewJeans while reflecting on her challenging journey as a creative force in the K-pop industry. As the former CEO of ADOR and now a director, her presence was highly anticipated, especially considering her ongoing legal battles with HYBE.
During her talk, Min Hee Jin revealed that the unreleased track she played encapsulates the retro city pop vibe that NewJeans is known for. Produced by FRNK, a collaborator on some of the group’s biggest hits, this new track is expected to be another exciting addition to their growing discography. Attendees were quick to share snippets of the demo on social media, sparking a wave of excitement among fans.
Dressed stylishly in a black leather jacket and cap, Min Hee Jin passionately addressed the staggering 2.3 billion KRW (approximately 1.7 million USD) legal fees she has incurred. She stated, “That’s why I decided, ‘I have to win,’” highlighting her determination to pave the way for clearer processes within the industry. Min expressed her frustrations about what she called “pointless lawsuits,” stating, “I want to prevent these kinds of fights from happening in the future.”
When discussing her legal troubles, she emphasized her belief in the truth, saying, “You cannot create a crime where there isn’t one. No matter how much they exaggerate, the truth will come out.” In a surprising revelation about her creative contributions, she claimed responsibility for the HYBE slogan, “We believe in music,” although she clarified that she did not name the company itself. “I put my hopes and soul into how I envisioned the company could be,” she reflected, showcasing her commitment to blending art and business seamlessly.
Min Hee Jin also drew attention by referring to her feud with HYBE as a ‘landmark case,’ stating, “I will definitely make a documentary about it,” hinting at her desire to share her story more widely.
To show her support, Min Hee Jin shared screenshots on her Instagram stories of NewJeans members cheering for her. While Hanni offered her support before the event, Danielle and Haerin praised her for her insightful participation during the session, underscoring the strong bond within the group.
