On May 7, Billy Ray Cyrus took to Instagram to share a sentimental throwback video featuring a young Miley playing piano while he strummed guitar. “Can’t wait to see this young lady,” he captioned the post. “Crazy how time flies.” The post, seemingly hinting at reconciliation, immediately sparked fan interest.
But what really sent the internet into detective mode? A few hours later, fans noticed that Tish Cyrus—Miley’s mom—had unfollowed the Flowers singer on Instagram. A Miley fan account, Access Miley, was quick to point out the change, triggering a fresh wave of speculation about ongoing family tensions.
However, a source quickly told Page Six that the unfollow was purely accidental. “It was a glitch. There’s no drama,” they said, confirming that Tish has since refollowed her daughter. Still, fans weren’t entirely convinced given the timing—and the history.
Tish and Billy Ray officially ended their 30-year marriage in 2022, releasing a joint statement that they were parting “not with sadness, but with love in our hearts.” Since then, however, the family dynamic has seemingly grown more complicated—and more public.
Miley’s relationship with her father has reportedly been strained following the divorce. At the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she won Record of the Year for Flowers, she notably excluded Billy Ray from her acceptance speech, while her mother, Tish, stood proudly by her side.

Billy Ray, meanwhile, debuted a new romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley on Easter Sunday. And back in March, he posted a heartfelt tribute to Miley and Noah, saying:
