Michelle Pfeiffer, who became a prominent figure in some of the best movies of the ’80s and ’90s, including Scarface and The Fabulous Baker Boys, started her journey in the world of cinema with the musical sequel Grease 2. While the film initially faced mixed reviews, it has gained a cult classic status over time and played a crucial role in establishing Pfeiffer as one of the best actors of her generation.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pfeiffer shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story related to the filming of Grease 2. During the ensemble number ‘Score Tonight,’ her character, Stephanie Zinone, is seen wearing a pair of hefty sunglasses. Pfeiffer revealed that this accessory choice was not merely a fashion statement but was a result of an injury she sustained during one of her days off.
Pfeiffer explained, “I was in Northern California on a weekend, and I fell off a dock in San Francisco and split my eye open. I went to work on Monday, and we put sunglasses on. Fortunately, I had bangs, and my bangs might have become a little more, uh, distinctive after that. It healed pretty quickly though. It didn’t really interrupt shooting.”
Despite the minor setback, Pfeiffer’s commitment to her role and the unique charm of Grease 2 contributed to her growing prominence in the film industry. The film’s legacy, coupled with Pfeiffer’s subsequent successful career, showcases how even unexpected moments during the making of a movie can add to its enduring appeal.
