At its Meta Connect 2025 event, Meta unveiled the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a new pair of smart glasses built for runners, cyclists, and outdoor lovers. The glasses cost 499 dollars, which is about 43,500 rupees in India, and will be available from October 21.
This model comes just three months after Meta released the Oakley Meta HSTN, but the Vanguard is more focused on sports. It is tougher, has better cameras, and connects with popular fitness platforms.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard has a single front lens with a 12MP wide camera that can shoot 3K video. There is an AI button you can program to trigger custom prompts through the Meta AI app. The glasses also come with open-ear speakers that are louder than the earlier model, a five-microphone system with wind-noise reduction, and a strong battery that lasts nine hours in total or six hours if you are only listening to music. With the charging case, you can extend this by another 36 hours. A quick 20-minute charge gives 50 percent power.
The glasses are IP67 rated, making them resistant to dust and water. They also use Oakley’s PRIZM lens tech to protect from sunlight, wind, and dust. Athletes can pair them with Garmin smartwatches to see pace and heart rate data in real time, and they sync with Strava to add performance stats to photos and videos before sharing them.
Meta is launching the Vanguard in four designs:
Black with PRIZM 24K, White with PRIZM Black, Black with PRIZM Road, and White with PRIZM Sapphire.
The first launch phase will cover the US, Canada, and several countries in Europe and Australia. A second phase later this year will bring them to India, Mexico, Brazil, and the UAE.
Along with the Vanguard, Meta also announced two more products. The Ray-Ban Meta 2, which now has double the battery life and supports 3K Ultra HD video, and the Ray-Ban Meta Display glasses, which feature a built-in display for apps, navigation, and live translation.
