Meghan Markle’s estranged half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has announced that he’s working on a tell-all book from his current home in the Philippines, where he’s also looking after their father, Thomas Markle Sr., who is now 80 and dealing with ongoing health issues.
In an interview with The Mirror, the 58-year-old shared that his book is well underway and he’s confident it will attract quick attention once released. He’s also planning to turn the story into a documentary after the book is out. “When my book is finished, ooh it’ll be swooped up real quick,” he said, emphasizing that the project is moving forward and he’s determined to make it good.
While Markle Jr. claimed his main motivation is to tell his truth rather than make money, he did admit that any income from the book would be welcome. “It’s about the principle,” he explained, before adding, “it would be nice to have a nice little cushion from selling a book.”
He also noted that there seems to be strong public demand for the story. Now based on Cebu Island—thousands of miles away from Meghan and Prince Harry—he says he finally has the time and space to write, especially while caring for their father, who struggles with mobility.
Markle Jr. has been critical of Meghan in the past, especially when it comes to how she’s portrayed her childhood. He accused her of exaggerating claims of hardship in her Netflix docuseries With Love, Meghan, where she suggested she faced financial struggles growing up. According to him, their family lived a solid middle-class life in California and Meghan attended private schools, which contradicts her portrayal of her upbringing.
His upcoming book is expected to re-ignite public interest in Meghan’s strained relationship with her family, especially her father, who still hasn’t met his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.
