Meghan Markle admits to serving simple frozen meals, like chicken nuggets, to her children

In her latest project with Netflix—a lifestyle and cooking show called With Love, Meghan—Meghan Markle presents herself as a hands-on mom who whips up adorable fruit platters, tea party sandwiches, and neatly arranged veggie trays for her kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It all looks like something out of a Pinterest dream.

But hold up—her recent interview with The New York Times tells a slightly different story. Meghan admitted that in real life, especially on busy days, she turns to kid-approved, quick-fix meals like frozen chicken nuggets, veggie burgers, and Tater Tots. So yeah, not quite the fancy snack spreads we saw on Netflix.

What’s more, that cozy-looking kitchen from her show? Turns out, the New York Times chat didn’t happen on that set. Instead, it took place in her real kitchen at her home in Montecito, California, where she lives with Prince Harry and the kids. Her mom, Doria Ragland, was also there, joining in on the conversation.

Meghan was pretty upfront about not being a trained chef or some kind of domestic goddess. She said she’s just like any other working parent—juggling jobs, kids, and everything in between. “I need to work,” she said. “I love to work.” She even mentioned she’s been working since she was 13. So when dinner rolls around, it’s often about speed and convenience more than Instagram-worthy plating.

She also didn’t shy away from addressing the backlash her show’s been getting. Critics have pointed out the contrast between her supposedly down-to-earth image and the polished, picture-perfect life shown on-screen. Meghan pushed back, saying that the glamorous life people see now isn’t the full picture. Gesturing to the peaceful view from her home and her snoozing pets, she said, “Don’t they know my life hasn’t always been like this?”

The interview came around the same time she launched a new lifestyle brand called As Ever. The first products—like raspberry jam, flower sprinkles, herbal teas, and wildflower honey—sold out within minutes. So clearly, she’s still got that star power when it comes to selling things.

At the end of the day, despite the glitz and the shows, Meghan seems to be saying, “Hey, I’m just another mom trying to make it all work.” And sometimes, that means popping nuggets in the oven instead of slicing up cucumber sandwiches.
