The Los Angeles Rams are set to face the Chicago Bears in the divisional round this weekend. As the game approaches, one injury has drawn attention. It involves quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Rams head coach Sean McVay said Stafford sprained the index finger on his throwing hand. The injury happened during the wild card win over the Carolina Panthers.
McVay added that Stafford will still be ready to play on Sunday. ESPN reporter Sarah Barshop shared that the team expects him to be good to go against the Bears.
While this is positive news, there are still some concerns. A finger injury can affect grip and accuracy. Stafford may not be playing at full strength. There is also the risk that the injury could get worse during the game.
McVay also shared other injury updates. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon will miss the rest of the playoffs with a shoulder injury. That is a tough loss for the Rams defense.
There is better news for a few other players. Guard Kevin Dotson, tight end Terrance Ferguson, and cornerback Josh Wallace all have a chance to play this weekend.
As kickoff gets closer, the Rams will be hoping Stafford’s finger holds up and that they can stay healthy for a deep playoff run.
