Matthew McConaughey is famous for his three-word motto: “Just Keep Livin.” He first said it in the 1993 film “Dazed and Confused.” Over time, it became more than a line from a movie. In 2008, he started the just keep livin Foundation to help high school students.
Now a husband to Camilla Alves and father of three, McConaughey says the phrase guides his whole life. For him, it’s about taking care of his family and keeping his priorities straight. He calls it non-negotiable and something he wants to keep building on every day.
Faith is another pillar for him. McConaughey says strong faith gives him courage to take risks and follow through on his goals. He also believes in keeping active and staying on his feet, both physically and mentally, as a way to stay healthy and engaged in life.
McConaughey and his family moved from Los Angeles back to Texas in 2014. He likes the slower pace, the sense of common sense, and being close to family and old friends. He says it helps him stay grounded and creative, even while staying connected to his acting career.
For him, real-life experiences shape his work as an actor. He enjoys Hollywood but values learning from everyday life, observing people, and taking in experiences that he can bring to his performances.
Camilla Alves has said that living in Texas fits their family values. It reflects the traditions she sees in her own upbringing, like going to church and enjoying the outdoors, making the move a smooth and meaningful transition for their family.
