Marvel Phase 5 Reschedule: Marvel Delays 7 MCU Shows!

The premiere dates of several Marvel Cinematic Universe TV programmes are shifting as a result of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. Due to strikes and unfavourable reviews of a lot of its projects, Phase 5 of the MCU has already undergone a number of significant release date revisions. One of the most recent was the postponement of six films, among them was Deadpool 3, Blade, both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, because of the ongoing strikes, What If…? season 2, Echo, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, formerly named Coven of Chaos, and X-Men ’97 will all be shifted. The WandaVision spinoff has been pushed to early Fall 2024 instead of Winter 2023, the Hawkeye spinoff has been pushed from its November 29 date to January 2024, and the animated revival is moving from Fall 2023 to early 2024. The animated multiverse show will now air closer to Christmas Day than it was originally scheduled to in early 2023. Ironheart, a spinoff from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has also been completely removed from the schedule, while work on Daredevil: Born Again and Wonder Man has been suspended.

When the aforementioned films were rescheduled, it appeared that the various MCU release delays had been confirmed. This is because SAG-AFTRA and the WGA have yet to receive an offer from the AMPTP that is commensurate with their effort. It is also logical that Marvel is delaying the release of their planned films until the development of Daredevil: Born Again and Wonder Man with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been finished.

But ultimately, these postponements might be advantageous for Marvel and franchise followers as Phase 5 of the MCU continues. The recently finished Secret Invasion, which witnessed a franchise low of just 7% on Rotten Tomatoes for its conclusion, has been cited as one example of how The Multiverse Saga’s second chapter has come in for considerable criticism from both critics and spectators. Prior to it, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania received negative reviews, particularly for its visual effects, about which The Marvels is currently receiving criticism with its most recent teaser.

The postponement of the MCU Phase 5 showcases can provide Marvel the chance to stand back and consider some of the contentious reactions to previous releases, even though some of the films postponed have already finished production. While the show’s creators may not be able to make any changes while they are on strike, the higher-ups at the studio can plan new story directions to approach them with when the strikes end, leading to a more unified vision and possibly returning the franchise to its early critical acclaim.
