Marvel dropped the action-packed first look at Thunderbolts, starring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and others

Marvel just dropped the much-awaited first trailer for Thunderbolts, and this time, it’s not your classic superhero story. Forget the Avengers — they’re out of the picture for now. Instead, the spotlight is on a ragtag group of misfits and former villains who are being pushed to become the heroes the world desperately needs.

The trailer kicks off with a grim reality: there are no dependable superheroes left. Someone bluntly says, “We have no reliable heroes, and yet we still need protection.” Basically, Earth’s in trouble (again), and the powers that be are scrambling to find a backup squad — a team strong enough to stand up against a terrifying, seemingly unstoppable new threat.

Enter the Thunderbolts: not the clean-cut, noble types we’re used to. These are the messy, complicated characters — the ones who’ve got a lot of baggage, questionable pasts, and more attitude than heroism. Leading the charge is none other than Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), who tries to rally the team by pitching the mission to Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen).

But as expected, it’s not all smooth sailing. Yelena hits him with some harsh truth: “Bucky, you have the wrong people. We’ve all done bad things.” Translation: “We’re not Avengers — we’re the people they’d usually fight.”

Still, when push comes to shove, even anti-heroes can’t turn their backs on innocent lives. As the trailer unfolds, we see the group slowly start to buy into the mission, realizing that maybe this is their shot at redemption — or at least a way to do something meaningful.

The movie’s official synopsis calls it a high-stakes mission where these unlikely allies are forced to confront their personal demons while trying to save the world. It’s gritty, it’s emotional, and it’s packed with action — but with a darker, more grounded tone than your typical Marvel fare.

Who’s in it?
The cast is stacked: Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, Wendell Edward Pierce, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus all play key roles.

Directed by Jake Schreier and produced by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, Thunderbolts lands in Indian cinemas on May 1, 2025, a full day before its U.S. release. The movie will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, exclusively in theaters.
