At the New York premiere of her Netflix documentary Martha on October 21, Martha Stewart, 83, opened up about her strained relationship with her ex-husband Andrew “Andy” Stewart. Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, the lifestyle mogul revealed that she hasn’t spoken to Andy in over two decades.

When asked if her ex had seen the documentary, Martha said, “The ex-husband? I have no idea. I haven’t talked to him for over 20 years. Sadly.”

Martha and Andy were married for nearly three decades, from 1961 to 1990, and share one daughter, Alexis Stewart, born in 1965. The couple’s divorce left a lasting impact on Martha, who had previously told PEOPLE in 2020 that it was a painful experience. “Getting divorced was a terrible thing for me because we were the first to divorce in my family,” she shared. “And that we haven’t spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I’m very strong, and I’m very motivated to get on with life.”
