The hit series Hacks is taking its late-night aspirations to new heights in its highly anticipated fourth season, bringing in some major names to join Jean Smart’s character, Deborah Vance, as she embarks on her comeback journey.

Entertainment Weekly reports that comedy legend Carol Burnett and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will be making memorable cameos. Kimmel, who appears as himself in episode five, will have an intriguing interaction with Deborah, confronting her when he learns she’s trying to steal a guest for her own show. Meanwhile, Carol Burnett will appear in episode four, playing a supportive friend to Deborah as she battles anxiety. Burnett’s presence adds an emotional layer to Deborah’s character, offering a more vulnerable side to the tough, iconic comedian.

The involvement of these comedy giants is expected to shape the season’s direction, particularly as Deborah navigates the ups and downs of her late-night career. Paul W. Downs, co-creator of the show, shared that Kimmel brought his own improv to the set, even adding sharp jokes about other late-night talk show hosts. “He brought some of his own dialogue that was really good. He went there,” Downs noted.

Jean Smart expressed her admiration for Burnett’s cameo, calling her an unparalleled comedic talent and an amazing human being. “If I can be like her or Betty White when I’m in my 90s, I’ll be a very, very happy lady,” Smart said, emphasizing the lasting influence Burnett has had on generations of performers.

In addition to Kimmel and Burnett, season 4 will feature other guest stars, including Julianne Nicholson, Michaela Watkins, and Eric Balfour.

The fourth season of Hacks kicks off with two episodes on April 10 on Max, marking a fresh chapter for Deborah Vance as she faces ambition, challenges, and the return of old friends from the comedy world. It looks like the ride will be just as unpredictable and hilarious as ever!
