The NBA All-Star Game has been dominated by LeBron James for 21 straight seasons, but this year it’s Luka Doncic’s turn in the spotlight. The Lakers star led the league in All-Star voting, earning over 3.4 million fan votes, nearly half a million more than Nikola Jokic in the West and 200,000 more than Giannis Antetokounmpo in the East.

James praised his teammate after the Lakers’ 115-107 win over the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, a game where Los Angeles came back from a 16-point deficit. “Shoutout Luka. Leading vote-getter in the All-Star Game. It was dope seeing that patch on his jersey tonight, well-deserved,” James said after the game.

Doncic, 26, isn’t just collecting votes—he’s making a strong case for his first MVP award. He’s averaging 33.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game, putting the Lakers in a solid position for the playoffs. His scoring leads the NBA, while his assists rank fourth, showing he’s doing it all on both ends of the court.

The Lakers are now in the middle of their eight-game “Grammy” road trip, the longest of Doncic’s career, which began against the Nuggets. Their next stop is a showdown with the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday. This season, Doncic is not just playing for All-Star honors—he’s trying to prove he can lead the Lakers deep into the playoffs and possibly claim MVP glory along the way.
