Big news for Emily in Paris fans! Lucas Bravo, who has stolen hearts as the dreamy chef Gabriel, just gave an exciting update: season 5 is officially on the way — and it sounds wilder than ever.

Chatting with Parade on Thursday, April 4, at the opening night of Broadway’s Good Night, and Good Luck, Bravo confirmed that filming will kick off in May. “We’re starting filming in May,” he shared, before teasing, “I think it’s the best season so far.”

Bravo has been part of the Emily in Paris magic since the beginning, playing a key role in the show’s tangled web of romance and drama. Created by Sex and the City’s Darren Star, the Netflix hit follows Lily Collins as Emily, a young marketing exec building a new life in the City of Lights — and often finding herself entangled with Gabriel along the way.

Although he stayed tight-lipped about plot details, Bravo hinted that fans are in for a major rollercoaster. “I had lunch with Darren a few days back, and he told me a bit without telling me too much,” he said. “I think fans are going to lose it. It’s the craziest one so far.”

Season 4 left viewers on edge: Emily had just moved to Rome for a new job, setting up shop with her latest love interest, Marcello (played by Eugenio Franceschini). Meanwhile, fans have been left wondering — will Gabriel stay in Paris, or will love pull him across Europe?

When asked whether rumored flame Shailene Woodley would be visiting him on set, Bravo simply laughed and dodged the question, smiling as he told the Parade reporter he didn’t know what they were talking about. (Earlier that day, he also told PEOPLE he was “really happy” — but didn’t exactly confirm or deny anything.)

His enthusiasm for season 5 is a bit of a twist, considering Bravo’s previous doubts about continuing with the series. In an October 2024 interview with France’s Le Figaro, he confessed he had questioned whether he wanted to spend another five months filming a show that no longer creatively challenged him. Bravo was candid about craving more meaningful growth for Gabriel and feeling that Emily in Paris didn’t always treat its viewers’ intelligence with the depth he hoped for.

He also spoke with IndieWire around the same time, explaining that he had grown apart from his character over the years. “The sexy chef was a part of me in season 1,” Bravo said, “but over time, the distance between Gabriel’s choices and my own became very real.”

Despite his creative frustrations, it seems something has reignited Bravo’s excitement — and if his teasers are anything to go by, season 5 might just be the most unforgettable chapter yet.
