Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis had an exciting Freaky Friday reunion at CinemaCon, where they took the stage hand-in-hand to promote the upcoming sequel, Freakier Friday. The duo, who famously played mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna in the original 2003 Disney film, shared their excitement about returning to their iconic roles.
Lohan, reflecting on the experience, told the crowd, “We can’t begin to tell you how amazing it’s been to be back in Anna and Tess’s shoes,” as she and Curtis wrapped their arms around each other. Curtis teased that the sequel would be even “freakier” than the first film, revealing, “This time, we’ve doubled the swaps.” The sequel promises to take their body-swapping shenanigans to new heights.
The Mean Girls actress added that viewers will see her and Curtis’s characters adopt new personalities after their body-swap, while Curtis shared that her character would have a bold teenage makeover, promising fans that they’ll see her like “never before.” Both actresses described their filming experience as fun and exciting, and Curtis emphasized that the movie was made with lots of “love” and is best experienced on the big screen.
To the delight of the crowd, never-before-seen footage from Freakier Friday was shown during their appearance. The sequel, set 22 years after the events of the original film, will follow Anna, now a mother, who has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As the two families try to merge, Tess and Anna realize that “lightning might strike twice.”
Freakier Friday is slated for release on August 8, 2025, and promises to bring plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments for fans of the original film.
