Emily in Paris fans have something to celebrate. On Tuesday, August 26, stars Lily Collins and Ashley Park announced on Instagram that filming for the show’s fifth season has officially wrapped. In a heartfelt post, they wrote about their bond and gratitude for the cast and crew, ending with a promise to fans that the new season would arrive on December 18.
The announcement came shortly after the sudden passing of Diego Borella, an assistant director, on August 21. Filming was paused briefly but resumed on August 23.
Season 5 follows Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, as she adjusts to life in Italy. Creator Darren Star described it as a “tale of two cities,” with Emily navigating both Rome and Paris. She is now leading the new Agence Grateau office in Rome and is in a stable relationship with Marcello, the heir to a major Italian cashmere company.
Despite the progress in her life, Emily will face challenges both at work and in love. A work project backfires, causing heartbreak and career setbacks. She leans into her French lifestyle for stability, but a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships. The season also explores Gabriel’s story after Camille Razat’s character lies about being pregnant, leading him to prioritize Camille over Emily. This prompts Emily to take the Rome office leadership role, which sparks her romance with Marcello. Even with her new life in Rome, Emily will continue to spend time in Paris, as Darren Star confirmed the show remains Emily in Paris, not Emily in Rome.
Season 5 brings back returning stars Lily Collins, Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Lucien Laviscount, Eugenio Franceschini, Thalia Besson, Paul Forman, and Arnaud Binard. New cast members include Bryan Greenberg as Jake, Michèle Laroque as Yvette, and Minnie Driver as Princess Jane. Camille Razat will not return.
All ten episodes of Season 5 will be available on Netflix starting December 18, 2025. Fans can look forward to seeing Emily balance love, work, and life across two iconic European cities.
