Lil Nas X is embracing his bold fashion history with a mix of pride and playful embarrassment—especially when it comes to his unforgettable look at the 2023 Met Gala.
Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the Panini singer reflected on one of his riskiest style moments: the shimmering, crystal-covered body makeup and thong ensemble that turned heads on the Met steps.
“There are definitely moments where I’m just like, ‘OK, I love that I did that; I don’t want to see it ever again,’” he joked, referring to the nearly-nude outfit. “The one from the Met Gala, like two years ago where I’m, like, kind of nak*d and covered in crystals.”
He recounted the hilariously awkward moment of bumping into fellow Met attendee Bad Bunny: “I can’t explain how it felt walking up to him, saying hi, chatting, and walking away knowing that he’s seeing your a** covered in crystals.”
Despite the vulnerability that came with such a daring look, Nas X made it clear—he doesn’t regret a thing. “I want to get out of my comfort zone, I want to feel good about my body,” he told Hudson. “And then just looking back, going, ‘Damn, everybody saw my a** covered in, like, silver crystal.’”
His 2023 Met Gala look was in line with the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” honoring the late fashion icon. While the look might have shocked some, it also solidified Nas X’s place as one of fashion’s most fearless risk-takers.
Fast-forward to this year’s Met Gala, held on May 5, where the theme shifted to “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The blue carpet dazzled with stars like Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Teyana Taylor—each putting their own spin on Black elegance and innovation in fashion.
As for Nas X, don’t be surprised if he stuns again next year—just maybe with a little more fabric involved.
