Lewis Pullman, at 32, is quickly carving out his space in Hollywood with his role as the villain Bob in Marvel’s latest blockbuster Thunderbolts. Acting alongside big names like Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, and David Harbour, Pullman is stepping into the MCU spotlight in a major way.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pullman reflected on how far he’s come from his early, awkward college acting gigs. He said that the key to landing his Marvel role was time — specifically, the time it took to grow comfortable in front of the camera and forget it was even there. That comfort, he explained, came from years of small parts and learning alongside seasoned actors.

Interestingly, Pullman admitted that before this role, he thought the Marvel universe was “untouchable” — something he’d only admire from the sidelines as a fan. He never imagined he’d be part of such a “mythologically massive” story. But once cast, he dove into the complexity of Bob’s character, appreciating how Thunderbolts blends high-octane action with themes touching on society and mental health, making the role more meaningful.

Now, with Thunderbolts in theaters worldwide, Pullman is stepping into the spotlight as a fresh new face in the Marvel universe — proving that patience and persistence truly pay off.
