Warner Bros. Pictures has unveiled the first teaser for One Battle After Another, an action-packed thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio as an ex-revolutionary. Written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film follows a group of former revolutionaries who reunite to rescue one of their own’s daughter after their old enemy resurfaces after 16 years.
This marks Anderson’s latest project since Licorice Pizza (2021), which earned three Academy Award nominations.
The 21-second teaser offers a high-energy montage, with gunfire erupting in the background. In one striking shot, Teyana Taylor’s pregnant character fires a rifle while DiCaprio’s character casually sips a drink. The scene then jumps to the child’s birth, followed by a narrator asking, “What are you gonna do about this baby?” The teaser ends with the child—now grown—wielding rifles, mirroring their mother’s skills. “Just when you think you’ve got a handle on things,” a voiceover warns.
The film, described as Anderson’s most expensive project to date (with a rumored budget of $100–$140 million), boasts a contemporary setting and a star-studded ensemble cast, including Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, and Licorice Pizza breakout Alana Haim.
For DiCaprio, this marks his first major film release since Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), following previous hits like Don’t Look Up (2021) and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (2019).
One Battle After Another is set to hit theaters on August 8, 2025.
