Kylo Ren is far from finished in the Star Wars galaxy. Adam Driver’s iconic character has been a hot topic recently, especially after Disney scrapped the planned Hunt for Ben Solo movie. That decision caused a huge backlash among fans, but Lucasfilm has been quietly keeping Kylo’s story alive through comics.
The latest Star Wars: Legacy of Vader series put Kylo front and center. The 12-issue run explored his journey between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. The story dives deep into his inner struggle, showing him torn between the dark side and the good left inside him. In the final issue, Kylo fights a vision of himself with a lightsaber, echoing the “all in your head” style of Star Wars: Visions.
The last page leaves him falling toward lava on Mustafar. Paired with this dramatic moment are four words that fans have been waiting for: “Kylo Ren… will return.” It’s the first official hint that his Star Wars journey is not over.
This tease has led fans to speculate where Kylo will appear next. Many immediately think of the canceled Hunt for Ben Solo movie. Adam Driver and Steven Soderbergh had reportedly completed a script for a post-Rise of Skywalker story. Disney ultimately shelved it, but fan campaigns and petitions have pushed for its revival. That said, the comic’s setup likely wasn’t intended to reference that film, as the story was completed months before the movie news broke.
A TV series is another possibility. No major Sequel Trilogy characters have yet led a Disney+ show, and Kylo could be a strong candidate. There are hints of a darker Star Wars project in development, possibly even a horror-themed story, which could be a perfect fit for him. Still, no concrete plans or rumors of a Kylo-centered series have surfaced.
Most likely, Kylo’s next appearance will be in comics. The Legacy of Vader finale ends on a literal cliffhanger, making a follow-up comic the most natural way to continue his story. Fans can probably expect Lucasfilm Publishing to pick up where the series left off in the near future.
For now, Star Wars fans can take comfort in knowing that Kylo Ren isn’t gone. Whether through comics, a future movie, or a new series, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa will return to the galaxy far, far away.
