Kunal Nayyar, who played Raj in The Big Bang Theory, opened up on his character’s wardrobe

Kunal Nayyar recently reflected on his time on The Big Bang Theory, where he famously played Raj Koothrappali. In a discussion on The Big Bang Theory podcast, Nayyar admitted that he never liked his character’s wardrobe, saying that wearing outfits like cargo pants every day “ruined” fashion for him off camera. He added that he now avoids wearing vintage Gucci sweaters or styles similar to Raj’s, even if they’re trendy.

Nayyar also spoke fondly of his relationship with co-star Melissa Rauch, who played Bernadette. The two reunited on the set of Night Court, which premiered in 2024, and he described their bond as one of deep trust, love, and connection built over years of working together. He emphasized that the closeness he shares with his former co-stars goes beyond words, shaped by their long journey together on the show.

After The Big Bang Theory, Nayyar continues to expand his career and will next appear in an adaptation of A Christmas Carol, directed by Gurinder Chadha.
