The 2025 Cannes Film Festival has once again turned the French city into a glamorous hub for top stars promoting their latest work. On Thursday, Kristen Stewart and Natalie Portman both made striking appearances at their respective photocalls, showing off very different fashion vibes.
Kristen Stewart stepped out for the photocall of her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water. She embraced a softer, more delicate look, wearing a pink tweed short set from Chanel’s Fall 2025 collection. Her outfit included a tulle blouse adorned with flounces and stress details, paired with matching shorts and topped with a net skirt. She accessorized with classic pink Chanel shoes and a choker called Bouton de Camélia. Her pink-tinted blonde updo added a rebellious twist to the otherwise soft style, perfectly blending sweetness with edge.
Meanwhile, Natalie Portman arrived for the photocall of Arco, a sci-fi animation film by Ugo Bienvenu. She took a completely different route, channeling a “black swan” vibe in a little black dress from Dior’s Fall 2025 collection. The dress featured a high neck, cap sleeves, and an architectural pannier skirt, with silver embroidery adding dramatic flair. Portman kept her accessories simple—black heels, black glasses, and silver jewelry—letting the dress take center stage.
The two styles couldn’t be more different, and that’s part of the magic of Cannes—it celebrates a wide range of fashion and self-expression.
As for The Chronology of Water, Stewart’s film marks her first time directing. It’s an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir and premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the festival. The cast includes Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, Earl Cave, and Michael Epp.
