Prince Harry recently lost his legal battle with the UK Home Office over the removal of his official security while in the country. In an emotional interview with the BBC following the court decision, he said he was “devastated” and heartbroken that he wouldn’t be able to bring his children to visit his home country safely.
Harry shared that he didn’t want to keep fighting about his security and said the situation made him feel cut off from his father, King Charles. He believed pursuing legal action strained their relationship, although he never asked his father to get involved—just to let the legal experts handle it.
According to Vanity Fair, a royal insider said the King chose not to intervene because it wouldn’t have been appropriate while the case was in the courts. The King reportedly advised Harry early on to drop the lawsuit.
In the interview, Prince Harry expressed deep love for his country and sadness over not being able to share it with his children. He added that he’s open to reconciliation with his family and doesn’t see the point in continuing any more fights. Since leaving the UK, he’s only come back for funerals, court matters, or the occasional charity event.
Buckingham Palace issued a brief response to the court ruling, stating that the matter had been thoroughly reviewed by the courts multiple times, and the same conclusion was reached each time.
