BTS leader RM has always been known for being honest about his thoughts and his journey of self-growth. He often admits that he learns through trial and error and isn’t afraid to face his mistakes. In the past, he apologized for his old lyrics that were criticized for being misogynistic and took the time to learn from female professors to understand different perspectives. His willingness to grow has made him one of the most respected idols for his maturity and awareness.

During a recent Weverse livestream, RM opened up again — this time about marriage, love, and the expectations society places on people, especially women. His thoughtful words have caught a lot of attention both in South Korea and internationally, as fans praised him for expressing such a progressive view on a topic many celebrities avoid.

He said, “When it comes to marriage, people feel rushed and pressured. There are realistic parts too. Especially for women, it seems like society and the media keep putting pressure on them. On all of us, really. I just wish people could live in their own way. There’s no right answer.” Fans appreciated how gently and truthfully he spoke, acknowledging the challenges people face while also promoting the idea of personal freedom.

RM also got candid about his own feelings toward marriage. He admitted that if he got married soon, his fans might feel sad, and because of that, he sometimes feels hesitant about it. He reflected on how his parents’ relationship shaped his views. “Seeing my parents’ 9 years of dating period, I naturally thought I’d get married too. But I’m already 32 now… if I get married too soon, you all might feel sad. At this rate, I most probably end up not getting married at all,” he said with a smile.

He shared that his parents lived just five minutes apart and dated for years before starting their family. At his current age, they already had a child, and that difference in life timelines makes him reflect deeply on his own path.

What stood out most to listeners was RM’s message about letting people live life their own way — without pressure, comparison, or judgment. “I just hope people live the way they want, and let others do the same,” he said, summing up his belief in freedom and individuality.

Outside of music, RM is also working on a personal project — an art exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where he will showcase his private art collection. As always, he continues to balance his artistic passions with a grounded and thoughtful outlook on life.
