Kim Kardashian is heading to Paris to testify in person at the trial of 10 suspects accused of orchestrating the 2016 robbery that traumatized her. The case, reopened on April 28, marks a major step in her long quest for justice, nearly nine years after the harrowing incident.

Sources close to Kim say she’s understandably nervous but determined to face the court herself. She believes it’s important to hold those responsible accountable for the terrifying ordeal. “Kim was terrified for her life during the robbery,” a source told People, “She wants the people involved convicted.”

On May 12, Kim subtly announced her arrival in Paris by sharing a photo from her private jet with a simple French flag emoji on Instagram Stories.

Back in October 2016, five armed and masked robbers invaded Kim’s private hotel residence in Paris. They bound her with plastic zip ties and held her hostage while ransacking the room for valuable items.

Among the stolen treasures were two diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, a gold Rolex watch, and, most heartbreakingly, a $4 million diamond engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West. The total value of the loot was estimated at nearly $9 million, with much of the jewelry still unrecovered.

Kim has previously shared how terrifying the event was, recalling how she feared for her life and hesitated to try escaping. She also reflected on how her social media activity at the time might have made her vulnerable—robbers may have tracked her movements through Snapchat updates and other posts, making her an easy target without her security team nearby.

The trial has drawn significant media attention, not just because of Kim’s celebrity but due to the boldness of the crime. The 10 suspects now face serious charges related to the heist.
