Keri Hilson has recently addressed the long-standing rumors and backlash surrounding her alleged feud with Beyoncé, which started over a controversial verse in her remix of “Turnin’ Me On” featuring Lil Wayne. Speaking with People, Hilson set the record straight, revealing that the lyrics fans believed were directed at Beyoncé were not her own words. In fact, she was pressured to record the verse and did not want to include it in the song at all.

Hilson explained that the verse was already written when she arrived at the studio to record the remix. She felt pushed into singing it by her creative team, who were eager to create buzz regardless of the potential fallout. “I didn’t write them. I was forced to sing them,” Hilson said, emphasizing that she never wanted the controversial verse to be released. She also expressed that she had been a fan of Beyoncé for years and has always wondered if Beyoncé was misinformed about the situation.

The backlash from the leaked remix fueled the rumors of a feud between the two singers, and this speculation led to a slump in Hilson’s career despite her later hits like “Knock You Down” and “Pretty Girl Rock.” However, Hilson clarified that she has no idea if Beyoncé still holds any grudge against her, adding, “I’ve always wondered what she was told about that, if she was told the truth.”

Now, with her latest studio album, We Need to Talk, set for release on April 18, 2025, Hilson is moving forward in her career, with nine new tracks on the way. The album signifies her return to music after a lengthy break and shows her commitment to addressing the past while continuing to evolve as an artist.
