Kelley Mack, widely known for her role as Addy in AMC’s The Walking Dead, has tragically passed away at the age of 33. The actress died on August 2, 2025, in her hometown of Cincinnati after battling a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer known as diffuse midline glioma (DMG).
Her family confirmed her passing in a heartfelt statement, noting that she died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones including her mother and aunt. The diagnosis, which came in early January, followed months of confusing symptoms that were initially believed to be related to a slipped disc.
Born Kelley Lynne Klebenow on July 10, 1992, Mack began her acting journey early and graduated from Chapman University with a degree in cinematography. She later made a mark in both independent and mainstream projects, with notable roles in Chicago Med, 9-1-1, and Broadcast Signal Intrusion. Her performance in The Walking Dead (2018–2019) earned her a loyal fan following and recognition among the franchise’s ensemble of talent.
Mack was also a filmmaker and producer, having written, directed, and starred in short films. One of her most recent projects, a feature film titled Universal, remains unreleased but is expected to be a key part of her legacy.
An Inspiring Battle and Outpouring of Tributes
After receiving her cancer diagnosis, Mack documented her experience through a series of open, vulnerable social media posts. She revealed that her symptoms began with lower back pain and shooting leg pain, leading to the discovery of a tumor in her spinal cord. Post-surgery and biopsy, she lost partial control of her legs and began using a walker or wheelchair.
“I’ve spent the last couple of months living with a completely new reality,” she wrote in January 2025. “I am grieving the life I had before.” Despite the devastating diagnosis, she remained remarkably candid and brave in sharing her story.
Tributes poured in following news of her passing. Alanna Masterson, her co-star from The Walking Dead, said, “What an incredible human. So proud to have fought alongside her in our final episode together.” Her sister also penned an emotional message, noting that many friends and family have seen butterflies since her passing—a symbol they now associate with her spirit.
Kelley Mack is survived by her parents Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow, her sister Kathryn, her brother and fellow actor Parker Mack, her grandparents, and her boyfriend, Logan Lanier. A public celebration of life is planned for August 16 in Glendale, Ohio.
Her courage in the face of a devastating illness and her dedication to the arts will continue to inspire fans and fellow actors for years to come.
