Keith Bynum had fans laughing this week when he admitted he didn’t even catch the latest episode of his own HGTV series Bargain Block.

In an Instagram Story on Thursday, August 28, Bynum asked followers, “So, what did y’all think of the episode last night? I haven’t seen it.” Then he revealed the reason why: “Does anybody have an HBO Max login?” he joked, proving that even TV stars deal with the same streaming struggles as the rest of us.

The missed episode was the second of the show’s final four instalments, which began airing on August 20. This week, Bynum, his partner Evan Thomas, and their friend Shea Hicks-Whitfield tackled a run-down midcentury modern home in Detroit. They gave it a fresh new look, including an office makeover with Sherwin-Williams’ “Sea Salt” paint.

Bynum later shared before-and-after photos of the transformation, writing, “Hope you liked last night’s episode of Bargain Block, where we added a dash of seasoning with Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt to add a bit of flair to a midcentury modern home office!” He reminded fans they could still stream the episode on HBO Max or Discovery+.

Thomas also shared his thoughts on the renovation, saying their goal was to honor classic midcentury style while keeping the home appealing for today’s market. Hicks-Whitfield, meanwhile, posted a heartfelt thank-you message to fans, telling them she was “so very thankful” for their love and support and “extremely grateful” to everyone who makes the show possible.

The love from fans has been especially meaningful since Bynum announced in June that Bargain Block was canceled after Season 4. In an Instagram Q&A, he explained that HGTV had originally greenlit a fifth season but reversed course earlier this year. “They decided in February, after we got everything ready for Season 5, that they weren’t gonna do it,” he said.

Since then, Bynum has been open about the emotional roller coaster of saying goodbye. Ahead of the season’s return earlier this month, he shared a bittersweet message: “It’s amazing to be part of something so wonderful and it’s hard to say goodbye, but I’m beyond grateful for the last five years.”

He added that the outpouring of support has made a huge difference. “While the decision to leave was not ours, it’s clear we have fans that will support us no matter what network we land on and that is a comfort,” he wrote. “The anger we experienced in the last few months was tough to handle, but seeing how many of you were also angry helped us see a path forward. Out of the bad always comes some good.”

Bargain Block continues airing its final episodes on HGTV, with past episodes available to stream on HBO Max and Discovery+.
