Keeper, known for creating one of the top password managers, has announced that its passphrase generator is now available as part of the Keeper Security suite for Android devices. This new feature aims to help users create more secure credentials by generating random passphrases, which are more complex and safer than standard passwords.
Reusing the same password across multiple accounts increases the risk of getting hacked. To prevent this, experts recommend using unique passphrases for each account. Keeper’s passphrase generator creates a random combination of words and symbols, providing stronger protection. The generator uses a pool of 7,776 words, as suggested by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, to build these secure credentials.
Once generated, the passphrases are stored in Keeper’s secure vault, so users don’t need to remember them. Craig Lurey, CTO and Co-founder of Keeper Security, stated, “We’re excited to bring the passphrase experience to mobile users, starting with Android. This feature provides our users with the ability to generate highly secure credentials directly on their devices, making it easier to safeguard their accounts.”
Keeper has also introduced an extended logout timer for Android, allowing users to set a session timeout ranging from one minute to two weeks, making it easier to balance convenience and security.
Android users can access the passphrase generator via an automatic update through the Google Play Store. Meanwhile, iOS users can expect the feature to arrive in the coming weeks. Additionally, Keeper recently expanded its mobile passkey support, giving users more flexibility in generating and storing passkeys while on the go.
