Katy Perry is gearing up for an out-of-this-world experience—literally—as she prepares to blast off into space with Blue Origin. She’ll be joined by TV journalist Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, making it part of the company’s first all-women space mission. Just before boarding the spacecraft, Perry took a moment to send a heartfelt message to her fans on X (formerly Twitter), writing simply, “I love you.”

The pop star shared photos with her fellow crew members, all dressed in sleek blue space suits, radiating excitement and unity ahead of the launch.

In a recent interview with Elle, Perry opened up about her lifelong interest in astronomy and the cosmos. She admitted she’s thrilled to be heading into space, calling it a dream come true. “If you had told me as a kid that I’d be in the first all-female space crew, I would have believed you,” she said in another interview with USA Today. “Nothing was beyond my imagination.”

The brief journey is expected to last about 11 minutes, crossing the Kármán Line—which marks the official boundary of outer space at 62 miles above Earth. During the flight, the crew will experience a few weightless moments before returning to Earth in an automated, pilot-free spacecraft.

The mission isn’t just a milestone for the individual women aboard—it’s also part of a push to promote space tourism and close the gender gap in the industry. Current data shows that women make up only about 11% of all people who’ve been to space.

Perry also hopes to inspire the next generation, especially young girls. In a past interview with the Associated Press, she said, “I want girls to see this and say, ‘I can do that too.’”
