Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially ended their relationship after nearly a decade together, marking the quiet close of one of Hollywood’s more enduring love stories. According to US Weekly, the split was amicable, with no major drama or resentment. A source close to the pair shared that while Katy is understandably sad about the end of the relationship, she also feels a sense of relief—especially since she won’t have to go through another divorce, something she’s described in the past as one of the hardest experiences of her life.

The couple, who share a 4-year-old daughter named Daisy Dove, had reportedly been living separately for some time. Katy is currently on her Lifetimes tour, and insiders say that the physical and emotional distance between the two really began to show while she was on the road. One source put it simply: “They’ve grown apart and aren’t living the same lives anymore.”

Though they got engaged back in February 2019 on Valentine’s Day, the pair never actually made it down the aisle. Friends say that despite the engagement, they never seriously planned a wedding. No date was ever set, and after six years of being engaged, the momentum faded. According to one insider, “Orlando is over it,” implying that the relationship had stalled for some time.

While Katy has continued touring and keeping busy professionally, she’s also made some changes on the home front. She rented out the Westcott Estate in Montecito, which had originally been meant as a family home for her, Orlando, and Daisy. The main residence before the split was another house in Montecito, but they’ve since been living apart.

For those close to the couple, the breakup didn’t come as a huge surprise. Tension had reportedly been building for months, especially as Bloom was seen spending more time out and about solo while Katy was away. Despite their public image, both had been honest about the effort their relationship required. Back in April 2023, Katy even posted on Instagram about how much ongoing work it took to keep things strong between them. A year later, in an interview with Trevor Noah, Bloom acknowledged their challenges and the scale of their separate careers. He spoke with affection, describing how he tried to ground their relationship by “bringing her back to the sand pit” so they could “build a sandcastle” together.

The pair’s love story started back in January 2016 after they met at a Golden Globes afterparty. They dated for just over a year before briefly breaking up in March 2017. But the split didn’t last long—they reunited in early 2018 and got engaged the following year. In March 2020, Perry shared that she was pregnant with their daughter, and Daisy was born in August. Bloom also has a son, Flynn, from his previous marriage to model Miranda Kerr.

Although their relationship has now come to an end, it seems to have ended on peaceful terms, with both prioritizing co-parenting and maintaining a respectful distance. It may not have had the fairy-tale ending fans hoped for, but by all accounts, it’s a calm and mature goodbye.
