Kate Middleton’s parenting style is reportedly so effective that she has become the one to manage her husband, Prince William’s occasional outbursts, much like she does with their children, George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Louis, 6. According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Middleton has mastered the art of calming William when he becomes frustrated, often treating him like a “fourth child.”
Quinn explained that William, 42, occasionally throws tantrums when things don’t go his way, especially given the pressure of being heir to the throne. Middleton, 43, known for her down-to-earth approach to parenting, handles these moments with patience and calm. “Occasionally, William has little tantrums and irritations if things aren’t done the way he wants them done,” Quinn said, adding that this has become a bit of a running joke among palace staff.
Kate’s style is described as measured and steady, and her ability to manage William’s temper has become well-known within the palace. One royal staff member explained, “She hasn’t had everything done for her throughout her life, so she calms him down when he gets a bit fractious. She says he sometimes has to be treated as her fourth child!”
Quinn also noted that this tendency isn’t unique to William. King Charles III, having been raised in a household with servants attending to everyday tasks, also reportedly becomes frustrated when things don’t go as planned.
The author linked William’s occasional emotional outbursts to his difficult childhood, including the tragic loss of his mother, Princess Diana, and his parents’ highly publicized divorce. Quinn suggested that despite being an adult, William still carries emotional needs from his youth. However, Kate Middleton’s steady and nurturing presence helps him navigate these moments, making him a more stable figure in the royal family.
