First look images have been released from The Bluff, a new period thriller starring Karl Urban.
The film is directed by Frank E Flowers, best known for Bob Marley: One Love. Urban appears as a swashbuckling pirate captain named Connor.
The Bluff follows Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas. She is a retired pirate trying to leave behind a violent past and live a quieter life.
Her plans are disrupted by the return of her former captain, Connor. His arrival forces Ercell to confront the history she has tried to escape.
Ismael Cruz Cordova, Vedanten Naidoo and Safia Oakley Green also star in the film. They play members of Ercell’s family, whom she is fiercely determined to protect.
The story is set in the Cayman Islands. Filming took place across real locations, including the Skull Cave and the island’s dramatic bluffs.
The Bluff will premiere globally on Prime Video on 25 February.
Urban’s appearance in the film comes ahead of his return in The Boys. Season 5 of the Prime Video series is set to premiere on 8 April.
The first 2 episodes will be released together. The remaining episodes will then air weekly until 20 May.
The upcoming season is expected to be emotional. Several cast members have shared reflections online about the final chapter of their characters’ stories.
Series creator Eric Kripke has confirmed that season 5 takes place months after the events of spin off series Gen V. He said viewers will see what has happened during that gap and described the state of the resistance as “not well”.
